What it means to be Organic

It’s your brain on a computer -

now I know why they call it a “blog”.

“A little madness in the spring is wholesome even for the king, but god be with the clown who ponders this tremendous scene this wondrous experiment of green as if it were his own.” ~Emily Dickinson

My interpretation of organic farming is this: take a walk in the woods, get off the beaten path a ways and settle in under a tree, smell the smells, listen to the sounds, the quiet. Look around and you see the fallen leaves on the ground and the shrubs and millipedes underneath making new soil. The mushrooms and new growth seedlings poking through the ground. The broken twigs strewn about. Ants carrying off dead termites to their nest. Life eating life to create new life. That’s what organic means to me.
